Richard Taylor, American philosopher and scholar, is a believer of all things destiny. He believes that every and all events in his life are predetermined and can not be altered by man. Taylor is a well-known, published author and hobby-beekeeper in his free time. He got started in the mid sixties and has since been a well-rounded individual in the field of philosophy. Although having been diagnosed with incurable cancer, he is not afraid of his terminal destination and firmly believes that his life has been blessed with enough good things to make it worth living.

The quote “All men are fatalists as they look back on things” refers to the scenario where, when a person’s life comes to an end, that person looks back knowing that they always anticipated doing the things they have done. Ultimately admitting to a sense of predestination in their lives, Richard Taylor believes. This quote applies to my life because I have seen people preach about how they are the creators of their own lives and action, but there are certain things that a person can not predict. Whether or not a person will be sick can not be one hundred percent accurately predicted.

Although one can do everything in one’s power to minimize risk of sickness, that person will still be sick at some point in their lives. This happened to my friend’s mother when she spent her life smoking cigarettes and telling her friends that she will never get cancer because she only smokes a few cigarettes every day. Then after a few years of smoking cigarettes every day, she contracted lung cancer.
