Author Analysis

Perhaps one of the most influential, best-selling, and highest valued authors of all time, Paul Coelho could be considered the Beyonce of fiction writers. Having produced multiple best-selling novels, Paulo has engraved his visionary influence through his writing, onto the millions of minds of his eager readers. One of his most famous quotes, “The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion”, has been the topic of many discussions. It can be interpreted in many different ways and senses. By stating that the world is changed by example, the author refers to the actions of everyday people to provide change through actions rather than thoughts. Without execution, an idea is worth nothing more than the time it took to think of it.

Furthermore, The quote applies to my own experiences in that I have been the example for changes in my household and my community. I have attended discrimination awareness seminars that educated fellow student of my age to encourage other students to stop bullying and racism. At these seminars, I have spoken about my experiences with bullying and the positive effects standing up to bullying can have on one's life. My younger siblings look up to me for guidance and instead of letting them look up to some sort of failure or dropout, I’m letting them witness me doing greater things such as going to college, working for my dreams, appreciating the value of money, and appropriately respecting my elders. By doing this, I minimize the growth of negativity in my peers’ lives substantially.
